Caring for Inner West gardens

Inner West gardens have their own demands. Compact courtyards, terrace fronts, established trees in clay soil: they need someone who knows what they are looking at.

We have been providing garden maintenance across the Inner West since 2010. Darren Kerr holds formal horticultural qualifications from UTS and Ryde TAFE, and every member of our team is qualified in horticulture or landscaping. Whether you need a regular schedule or a one-off visit to bring things back under control, we handle it properly.

What our garden maintenance covers

We cover the full range of what a garden actually needs across every season, not just a quick tidy before the weekend. Depending on your garden and time of year, a visit might include:

  • Pruning and shaping shrubs, hedges, and ornamentals
  • Weeding garden beds and lawn edges
  • Lawn mowing, edging, and lawn health care
  • Mulching to retain moisture and suppress weeds
  • Seasonal planting and plant replacements
  • Plant health checks and early pest or disease spotting
  • Soil assessment and fertilising where needed

The Inner West growing season has its own rhythm. A qualified team reads those conditions and works with them, rather than running the same routine regardless of what the garden needs.

Regular maintenance or a one-off visit

Some clients want a consistent schedule. Others need a single visit to clear overgrown beds, tackle a problem hedge, or reset a garden that has been left too long. We work both ways, with no lock-in contracts and no minimum commitment beyond the visit itself.

For strata properties and larger residential gardens, regular visits make the most practical sense. Issues are caught early, plants stay healthy, and the garden builds a rhythm. For clients who mostly manage their own gardens, a seasonal visit or twice-yearly catch-up is often enough.

Inner West garden maintenance: where we work

We have built our client base, suburb by suburb, over the past decade. We work regularly across Marrickville, Newtown, Balmain, Annandale, Dulwich Hill, Haberfield, Stanmore, Summer Hill, Tempe, and Erko.

That local knowledge matters. The heavy clay soil across much of the Inner West, the established trees, the compact terrace and semi-detached formats. We know what these gardens need in wet winters and dry summers. If your suburb is not listed, get in touch. We regularly extend our service area for the right clients.

Qualified horticultural care, not just ground maintenance

There is a real difference between a gardener who mows and a team with formal horticultural training. Darren’s qualifications from UTS and Ryde TAFE mean plant health advice, soil assessment, and the judgment calls that come with a complex garden are grounded in proper training. When a plant is struggling, we can diagnose why. When a maintenance visit reveals something developing, you will hear about it before it becomes a problem.

If a visit raises questions about plant health or the garden’s longer-term direction, Darren can provide horticultural consulting alongside the maintenance work, or arrange a separate consultation if the garden warrants it.
